Students taking voice, piano, guitar, and ukulele will receive 30 minutes of instruction covering classic works, modern works, technique, theory, history, sight reading, improvisation, and scales. Students will work from a variety of materials necessary to create a well rounded musician including individualized handouts. They will receive instruction on how to present themselves for a performance or audition and gain experience from participation in monthly master classes and three recitals a year.
Students taking theory and composition will have lessons tailored to their needs. Theory lessons for someone looking to go to college who already reads music will be very different from theory lessons for a musician who plays an instrument but does not know how to read music notation (these lessons can be for any instrument including ones that I do not teach). Composition lessons will also be tailored to any style of music. It could be for the budding film composer who needs help with transitions or for the songwriter who does not know how to write down their ideas. These lessons can be set up on an as-needed basis although the only way to secure a specific lesson time would be to sign up for weekly lessons.
